Frequently Asked Questions about Online Registration


1.This is my first time using this system - what should I do?

NON-MEMBERS: (you don't have a CRS membership)
Click on the Need an Online Account link on the login page and create your username and passcode. Click on the Non-Members Button and register for an online account. Once registered, you will be given a Member ID and a password. That same information will also be emailed to the email addresses given during the registration process.

CRS MEMBERS: (you have a CRS membership to access our full facilities) Please CALL the CRS Member Service Desk at 301 405 PLAY (7529). An agent instantly can create an online username and passcode for you.

2. Will I leave the CRS websites to reach the online services?
Yes, the online services will open a second browser directed to spectrumonline.net, a website which handles our secure registration process. If you wish to return to the CRS website, simply close the registration browser and you will find the CRS website in the initial browser behind.

3. What does it mean to be a First Time User?
This process simply registers you as a user of our online services. Everyone, regardless of CRS Membership status, must complete this process before they can complete an online transaction. If you are not a CRS Member than use the guest registration (Non-Member option) If you have a question call 301 405 PLAY.

4. What if I can't login?
Please call the CRS Member Services at 301 405 PLAY (7529).

5. I forgot my password, what should I do?
Online IDs and Passwords are managed solely by the user – CRS does NOT keep a record of passwords. You must click the FORGOT MY PASSWORD link and follow the instructions to reset your password. A CRS employee can reset your password if you call 301 405 PLAY.

6. What if I want to register my child, spouse, or friend for a class? How do I add a family member to my account?
Click the word HOME in the upper left-hand corner. Then click ADD SUB-MEMBERS on the right-hand side of the page.

Registration

1. How do I search for courses?
After logging in, click PROGRAM REGISTRATION on the left-hand side of your “home” page. Then CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Choose the session that you want to enroll in; select a category by clicking VIEW COURSES; select a course by clicking VIEW PROGRAMS; select a program and ADD TO CART.

2. What if I cannot find the course I’m looking for?
The bottom left-hand side of the screen (scroll to bottom of page) under Program Registration has a Search field. Type the name of the course you’re looking for; the results will then appear. Still having trouble? Call Member Services 301 405 PLAY.

3. What does it mean if I receive a message that states, “Invalid Registration Age”?
Chances are the system does not have a birth date for the registrant or the birth date is incorrect. Please phone CRS 301 405 PLAY during business hours to verify the birth date in question.

4. What if the class I want is full?
CRS limits the number of spaces reserved for online registration. Feel free to call CRS during business hours to see if the class is indeed full. You may also add the registrant to the waitlist.

5. What does it mean to be added to a waitlist?
The waitlist signals our staff that you would like to enroll in the class if a space becomes available. There is no charge to be placed on a waitlist. A staff member will call you if a space does indeed become available.

6. How do I receive member discount?
The online fees automatically reflect the discount.

7. How do I check my current enrollments?
Click ONLINE SERVICES in the top gray toolbar; choose PROGRAM REGISTRATION then VIEW REGISTERED PROGRAMS.

Check Out

1. What if I change my mind about a course in my Cart?
While in your VIEW CART area, click the REMOVE PROGRAM button corresponding to the program you no longer wish to register for.

2. What forms of payment are accepted online?
Most major credit cards are acceptable forms of payment.

3. How will I receive confirmation of my registration?
A confirmation message will be sent to the email address on file. You may also check all of your current registrations by clicking ONLINE SERVICES in the top gray toolbar; choose PROGRAM REGISTRATION then VIEW REGISTERED PROGRAMS

 

Frequently Asked Questions about our Courses

 

Where the classes are held?

  1. CPR and First Aid, Lifeguarding, Pool Operator, and Water Safety courses are held in the Eppley Recreation Center (ERC) Wet/Dry Classroom (#B0132).

  2. Learn-to-Swim courses are held in the Eppley Recreation Center (ERC) Natatorium.

  3. Bellydance and Hip Hop courses are held in Health and Human Performance Building - HHP 0128 or Ritchie Coliseum Multipurpose Room (#0114).

  4. Meditation, Pilates, Piyochi, Jujutsu, Tai Chi and Yoga courses are held in Ritchie Coliseum Multipurpose Room (#0114) , Eppley Recreation Center Multipurpose Room, Health and Human Performance Building – HHP 0128, or Cole Fieldhouse Multipurpose Room (#SB112).  Check the information for your specific course number.  The Cole Fieldhouse Multipurpose Room is located off the “tunnel” leading to the arena/turf field playing area on the sub-basement level.  Enter the facility at the back of the Building through the door marked “CRS Turf Field Entrance” (this door faces Byrd Stadium).  Once inside, enter the main hallway (“tunnel”) to the left.  The multipurpose room will be on the right just before the staff desk.

  5. Self Defense, Children’s Dance, Youth Yoga, and Children’s Tumbling courses are held in Eppley Recreation Center Martial Arts Room, or Eppley Recreation Center Aerobics Studio.

  6. Tennis courses are held on the tennis courts next to Cole Field House.

What to bring?

Proper ID (UMD student or faculty/staff photo ID or a drivers’ license) is required to access Campus Recreation Services facilities.  Equipment is provided for all non-credit courses.  For Learn-to-Swim and Aquatics courses, bring a swimsuit, towel, and lock. For tennis courses, bring a tennis racquet.

 

What to do if it Rains?

If it is raining where you live, do not assume that it is raining in College Park. Often the weather and the courts will clear in time for your class to be held. If the weather is questionable, call 301-405-PLAY (7529). A staff member will let you know if your tennis class is being held or canceled for poor weather. If the class is canceled for weather early in the day, CRS will make an effort to contact you. If it starts raining while your class is in session, the instructor will decide when it is no longer safe to play. Rained out classes will be rescheduled at the end of the course.

 

What to wear?

For all activity courses, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement is recommended.  Non-marking athletic shoes are required for entry into facilities with wood floors. For Learn-to-Swim courses, children requiring the use of diapers must wear disposable swim diaper. 

 

What you should know about Learn-to-Swim courses?

  A child registered for Parent & Tot classes must be accompanied IN THE WATER by a parent/legal guardian. 

  For children registered for Preschool or Levels I-VI, a parent/legal guardian must be ON THE POOL DECK BLEACHERS at all times.

  If a parent/legal guardian wishes to designate another adult who will be responsible for supervising his/her child as required, the instructor must be informed.  If the designated adult supervisor is not a CRS Member, Mary Mires (301-226-4409) or Carrie Tupper (301-226-5383) must be notified in advance to insure access to the facility.

  If a child needs to be excused from the class temporarily (e.g. to use the restroom), the parent/guardian is responsible for escorting the child to and from class. 

  Disruptive children may be permanently removed from courses at the discretion of the instructor.  Refunds will not be issued for children permanently removed from a course.

 

What you should know about Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor courses?

  A pretest is required for admission to the course.  Goggles may only be worn during the pretest.

  Books will be distributed after the pretest.

  Participants must be prepared for each class session with the proper materials and in the designated areas at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each class.

  Participants must be PRESENT AND PARTICIPATE in all skills during each class.

  For successful certification, participants must pass all written tests with 80% or higher correct responses and demonstrate proficiency in all critical skills.

Tai Chi & Martial Arts

WHAT TO BRING: Proper ID and comfortable clothing. All equipment will be provided.

Self-Defense

WHAT TO BRING:  Proper ID and comfortable clothing.  All equipment will be provided.

Dance

WHAT TO BRING: Leotards and tights or yoga pants. Bare midriff is optional. Bare feet or shoes that move easily on floors. Use veil or bring large scarf to tie around hips.

Pilates, Yoga & Meditation

WHAT TO BRING:  Proper ID and comfortable athletic clothing.

Learn to Swim

WHAT TO BRING:  Proper ID, swimsuit, towel, and a lock for your locker.  Participants must be on the pool deck and ready to swim at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the class.  

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: A child registered for Parent & Tot classes must be accompanied at all times IN THE WATER by a parent or legal guardian.

WHAT TO BRING: You must bring a tennis racquet.  Registered students and CRS members may check out a racquet at the equipment issue desk in the ERC.

You should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.

Youth Classes

WHAT TO BRING/ WEAR:  Children should wear comfortable clothing.  NOTE:  Children need to demonstrate independence from the parent, as well as being potty-trained. 

Fitness

WHAT TO BRING:  Proper ID and appropriate athletic clothing. Appropriate shoes and attire are required in activity areas. Non-marking athletic shoes are required on wood floors. Closed-toe athletic shoes and shirts are required in weight and fitness areas. Jeans and cutoff jeans are prohibited in the weight and fitness areas.

Aquatics
